Under the theme “Our Tech Speaks Human” Comau participated in the 10th edition of Italian Design Icons (IDI), held in Shanghai from November 19 to 23. The Company presented its human-centered approach to demonstrate how intuitive design, advanced robotics and ergonomic technologies are shaping safer, smarter and more sustainable factories across the rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape.
Through curated video narratives, Comau highlighted three core areas of focus. These include wearable exoskeletons, collaborative robotics, and intuitive human–machine interaction. The MATE-XT and MATE-XB exoskeletons are shown reducing shoulder and lower-back strain during physically demanding tasks. The MyCO collaborative robot is presented in scenarios that illustrate real-time sensing and safety-aware interaction in shared workspaces. The new TPX Teach Pendant is introduced via user-interface demos that show simplified programming and a lower learning curve for operators.
These technologies reflect Comau’s ease of use, maintainability and operator safety to accelerate real adoption on the shop floor.
“Human-centered technology is not a slogan for us. It is a concrete design requirement. As manufacturing moves toward more digital, flexible and data-driven operations, the true value of automation is measured by how it improves the operator’s experience. It makes advanced systems easier to trust and faster to adopt.”
Wallace Bie, Head of Marketing APAC at Comau
“Market expectations are also rapidly evolving. Manufacturers today demand solutions that deliver long-term safety, stability and usability for their workforce. Design that is centered around people not only improves the operator performance, it also generates gains in productivity, labor sustainability and total cost of ownership.”
Luca Fameli, Head of Sales APAC at Comau
“Ultimately, strong automation design is about execution and reliability. By engineering systems that are intuitive to install, simple to commission and easy to maintain, we reduce project complexity and secure consistent production performance for our customers.”
Andrea Messini, Head of APAC Projects Delivery & Quality at Comau
Comau’s presence at IDI enhances a broader industry shift. Automation is evolving from purely performance-driven tools to technologies designed to work together with human users. By combining functional design with clear workflows and intuitive interfaces, Comau aims to help manufacturers scale automation responsibly and sustainably.
