The second Shanghai Climate Week theme event “Climate Lighthouse New Era” was held in Shanghai on April 23rd. SHANGHAI CLIMATE WEEK is a public platform with a global influence for communication & cooperation in climate change combining governments, business, academic institutes, and social institutions in Shanghai under the support of the UN and China’s Government. The event gathered over 400 representatives from UN agencies, Shanghai government departments, research institutions, and businesses to discuss strategies and future trends for green transformations amid climate change.

Comau’s green initiative, “Empowering the Electrification Transformation of New Energy Vehicles,” was recognized by the expert panel of the organizing committee, who awarded it as a “Climate Lighthouse – 2025 Supply Chain Excellence Case” during Shanghai Climate Week. This recognition highlights the company’s significant efforts in advancing the electrification of new energy vehicles, actively practicing low-carbon concepts in supply chain management and establishing a benchmark for low-carbon transformation across the industry. Between 2021 and 2024, Comau reduced its Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 48% (in equivalent tons) through the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies and sustainable production processes. The award not only recognizes the company’s sustainability strategy and its practical accomplishments but also reinforces its resolve to deepen its green transition efforts.

In alignment with global sustainability goals and industrial innovation, Comau has integrated ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles into its operations. The company has established a comprehensive supply chain management system, guiding current and prospective suppliers to adopt a unified evaluation platform to provide a common assessment framework. Today, about 30% of Comau’s global orders are fulfilled by suppliers evaluated with EcoVadis, a globally trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. Additionally, Comau continues to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, minimize energy and water consumption, and promote circular economy practices. The company actively participates in international initiatives such as the REINFORCE Project, Upcell – European Battery Manufacturing Alliance, European Battery Alliance (EBA), Battery European Partnership Association (BEPA), and European Technology & Innovation Platform (ETIP), advancing eco-technologies and sustainable manufacturing.

Looking ahead, Comau will continue to foster cross-industry collaboration, providing innovative solutions for the electric vehicle (EV) value chain to accelerate the automotive industry’s electrification and contribute to global green development.
