Comau has received the 2024 Volvo Cars Award for Launch Excellence in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the V551 (new vehicle) project at the Volvo Chengdu plant. As a key element of the electric vehicle platform, SPA2, the project features Comau’s highly automated and flexible bodyside and underbody assembly systems, reflecting its strong engineering capabilities and proven track record in complex automation solutions.
Since the establishment of Volvo’s production footprint in China, Comau has served as a core supplier across body-in-white, battery systems and electric drive assembly. Its involvement in the latest SPA2-based vehicle project highlights Volvo’s continued push toward electrification. Throughout the project lifecycle, Comau provided responsive support and quality-driven execution, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted partner.

On July 11, Jeff Yuan, Comau APAC Leader, joined the 2025 Volvo Cars Asia Pacific Core Supplier Forum and V551 Supplier Launch Event, where he spoke as a long-term strategic partner. During a high-level panel discussion with leaders from CATL, Adient, he shared insights on the evolving trend of regionalization under the theme “Regionalization: Challenges and Opportunities.”
As manufacturing evolves toward a more balanced integration of global coordination and regional responsiveness, Comau is reinforcing its “global platform and local execution” strategy. In APAC, this translates into strengthened local engineering, manufacturing, and service capabilities. Through regionally coordinated supply chains, cross-border virtual teams, and a streamlined execution framework, Comau is helping customers accelerate project delivery while remaining agile to local needs, all within its global governance structure.
Backed by decades of experience in both conventional and new energy vehicle manufacturing, Comau remains committed to supporting its customers’ industrial transformations. With a strong local presence, the company is well-positioned to facilitate the successful ramp-up of Volvo’s new vehicle production program while driving forward its green and intelligent manufacturing goals.
