Advanced Robotic Palletizing for the Dairy Industry

In the food & beverage industry—especially dairy—automation is key to managing increasing throughput, ensuring quality, and reducing manual handling. At one of the most advanced dairy facilities in Poland, Comau’s robotic technology plays a leading role in delivering a fully automated system for product transportation, palletizing, packaging, and storage.

This fully integrated system improves efficiency, reduces manual handling, and ensures continuous, automated product flow in a demanding dairy production environment.

This video presents the fully automated palletizing and logistics system powered by Comau robots, designed to manage high-speed operations in a dairy production environment.

With three independent robotic cells equipped with Comau PAL 260 and NJ 165 robots, the solution handles yoghurt trays, raw material buckets, pallets, and spacers with speed, precision, and reliability.

From pallet replacement to part flow management, the system ensures maximum throughput, minimal downtime, and a highly coordinated process.

AtAt the OSM Kalisz facility, Comau implemented one of the most advanced examples of robotic end-of-line and warehouse automation in the Polish dairy sector.

  • Three robotic cells manage the full flow of yoghurt trays and raw material buckets
  • Comau PAL 260 robots ensure stable and efficient palletizing of lighter trays
  • A Comau NJ 165 robot handles heavier buckets with 6-axis flexibility
  • Pallet replacement stations (up to 45 europallets) allow for uninterrupted flow
  • A mezzanine-level observation area enables streamlined supervision

This fully integrated line, powered by Comau, ensures complete automation from production to storage, setting a new benchmark in food and beverage logistics.

The palletizing area is located in a dedicated building with three independent robotic cells. Each cell handles specific product flows, including yoghurt trays and raw material buckets, delivered via conveyors

  • Comau PAL 260: 4-axis robots with reinforced fifth axis to maintain level gripper position for stable tray palletizing

  • Comau NJ 165: A 6-axis robot configured to manage heavy bucket handling with precision and repeatability

The system includes a pallet replacement station capable of holding up to 45 europallets. Pallets are automatically replaced at each cell, ensuring uninterrupted operations.

The entire line is synchronized via centralized controls, ensuring that Comau robots, conveyor systems, and pallet stackers operate in perfect harmony—delivering reliable, high-speed automation across all stages of the process.

With over five decades of expertise, Comau delivers robust, flexible solutions that automate complex production and logistics tasks across sectors—particularly in high-volume environments like food & beverage.

Comau’s PAL 260 and NJ 165 robots combine high payload capacity, precise motion, and compact design. They adapt effortlessly to varying product types and sizes, delivering speed and accuracy in demanding conditions.

Comau robots are designed to integrate naturally with automated material flow systems, ensuring full compatibility with conveyors, stackers, and warehouse technologies—for a fluid and reliable production ecosystem.

Every solution is engineered around your specific operational needs—whether you require flexible batch handling, footprint optimization, or scalable performance. Comau ensures your investment grows with your business.
