Southfield, MI – Comau LLC is proud to be recognized as a Silver-Level Status Certified Veteran-Friendly Employer by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). Comau is MVAA's 25th employer to be awarded silver status; less than 8% of MVAA's program participants are recognized at this level.
MVAA acknowledges companies that are committed to hiring and training military veterans and spouses by formally recognizing them as Gold, Silver, and Bronze level veteran-friendly employers. They also provide a Veteran-Friendly Employer program, which assists employers in their efforts to recruit, train, and retain veteran candidates.
In order to achieve silver-level status, Comau employs a specific number of veterans, post its open jobs on www.MiTalent.org, signed an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Statement of Support, and provides its HR personnel with the MichiganVeterans.com website and Michigan Veterans Resource Center phone number to assist its veteran employees. Additionally, Comau marks and tracks applications from veterans, Guard or Reserve members and spouses of veterans, Guard or Reserve members.
In an effort headed by Comau North America's Director of Business Development Martin Kinsella, Comau has joined forces with Operation Next to provide veterans the resources to transfer from active duty to civilian careers in manufacturing. This partnership played a large role in achieving this honor.
During the formal presentation ceremony held at Comau's Southfield headquarters, MVAA's Strategy Analyst Randy Leffel presented the Silver Level Certification to Comau. In addition to some of Comau's veteran employees, the event was attended by City of Southfield Business & Economic Development Director Rochelle Freeman, Comau LLC CEO & President Brendan Blennerhassett, Business Development Director Martin Kinsella, Marketing Director Brent Kelso, and Comau Human Resources staff. Following the presentation, Comau's Human Resources team and veteran employees met with MVAA for a short workshop about ways to attract and retain veterans, along with the various benefits the MVAA can offer.
MVAA and Comau are planning to host a follow up workshop in the fall for Comau employees who are veterans and its employees who are spouses of veterans.
