Comau won 2020 Volvo Cars Award for Localization Support

Comau, as a global leader in industrial automation systems and products and long-term strategic partner, recently attended the 2020 “Volvo Cars Asia Pacific Supplier Convention”. Due to the success of the localization strategy – started in 1997 – and the company’s excellent performance in BIW (Body in White) projects and powertrain assembly projects, Comau won the automaker’s “Award for Localization Support”. Comau China CEO Gaetano Cantalupo attended the convention and received the award. Comau China initiated the localization strategy and over the past 23 years has successfully completed more than 110 body assembly lines for the automobile OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), 110 powertrain assembly lines and more than 60 machining assembly lines, making great contribution to the automobile technical revolution and industry upgrade in China. Since Volvo Cars built the first plant in China in 2013, Comau has cooperated with Volvo Cars for many projects in Daqing, Chengdu, Zhangjiakou and Luqiao plant. Comau China has fully mastered the Volvo standards and independently has the completed key technical design and process of new Volvo BIW projects. The new BIW projects were developed based on the new global platform and new models developed in Volvo Cars’ plants. Comau China CEO Gaetano Cantalupo mentioned: “Comau is honored to have received this important award and for the trust in Comau China that Volvo Cars has demonstrated.
